C4D Hyper Nurbs…

by CaptainJarrett on Jun.12, 2011, under Design

Playing with some hyper nurb modelling in C4D.  As with most things worth doing, perseverance pays.  Much pulling and pushing on points to move things where they need to be.  Time consuming but ultimately satisfying.  Still much to learn.  This model had my Q6600 on its knees…i think the mesh could be more efficient…just need to learn how.  Anyhow, my new whip.

More C4D

by CaptainJarrett on Jun.12, 2011, under Design

My obsession with C4D continues.   I made a serendipitous discovery with a particular environment setup which previews fast and looks sweet so I’ve been encouraged learn more about modeling using a mixing of tutorials and banging my head against the software.  I am still unsure how I links separate object surfaces…guess that’s what I will be playing with today.  A few examples of some recent work.

Harris Yearbook

by CaptainJarrett on May.10, 2011, under Design

The recent arrival of the Harris Yearbook 2011 (Beautifully crafted by me) gave me an excuse to flex some more 3d.  With some playing around I came up with this simple scene in C4d then flopped the image into Photoshop for a little sparkle and flare abuse.  I think it came out nice though I couldn’t get the book material shiny enough…next time!

Rock Apocalypse!!!

by CaptainJarrett on May.08, 2011, under Design

My latest flyer, posted here way after the fact.  A fudge of real C4d and Photoshop.  Its ok but not as dynamic as I was aiming for.  Anyhow first attempt at using both packages…we live and learn…and then you die. #jolly

Balls!!!

by CaptainJarrett on May.08, 2011, under Design

Some more progress with C4d.  This time some basic texture mapping, cloners, dynamics tags and erm…a few hours of my life.  Getting faster and gaining control all the time.  I cant speak highly enough of Nick and his Greyscale Gorilla blog.  His tutorials are mind expanding.  So much so I purchased his HDRI lighting kit and HDRI textures pack.  Money well spent.

Doodles In 3D

by CaptainJarrett on Apr.24, 2011, under Design

This week I have been pushing on with some 3D stuff to get some chops and see how it could be used in conjunction with my two best pals Photoshop and illustrator.  3D loves a bit of CPU and can take a while (31mins for the cell I am working on so far) so I am going to upgrade my box soon for ultimate horse power.

Smash.

This is an example of playing about with the textures, motion blur and a clever toy I found called Xbreaker by Nitroman (get it free here).  Its my first go with animation which promises to be a lot of fun.

Rock Apocalypse.

This is an example of a bit map exported from C4d to photoshop.  C4d Exports the alpha channel to selections and composting is as easy (if you want to call it that) as it could be.  I am cheating in parts (see work around) exporting certain objects to separate files to make selection easy…faster than (my much beloved) pen tool at any rate.  Anyhow this is to be the basis for a flyer I am cooking up for a pal.  I will post the result when its done.

More than a feeling!!!

by CaptainJarrett on Mar.07, 2011, under Uncategorized

A poster knocked out for my DJ pal David Curniffe and his new residency at ‘Midas Touch’.  Several version of this were made.  I plan to go back and finish the original idea but I really wanted to get a tidy bird on another poster, so here she is.  Gold text and flare abuse abound in this one.  Very happy with the gold texture on this one.  100% home made…excluding the girl.

Higher res (but not full, you dont want that…its too big fo ya) version available here

Steve

by CaptainJarrett on Feb.22, 2011, under Design

I started a tutorial for my pal Steve but again it got out of hand.  The back ground is the most interesting thing here.  All 100% assembled by hand.  No 3D apps or anything.
